2 nights / 3 days — the default
Ooty town on day one, Pykara and the high points on day two, Coonoor and the drive out on day three. Nine out of ten first-time Ooty trips should be this one.
Every Ooty package is the same three ingredients in different proportions: a room, a vehicle with a driver who knows the ghats, and a plan for the hours in between. This page prices each of them separately so you can see what you are buying.
In short
A mid-range 2 nights / 3 days Ooty package costs ₹9,000–14,000 per person on twin sharing, and a 1N/2D weekend runs ₹6,000–8,500. Honeymoon couples pay ₹16,000–23,000 all-in for 2N/3D. Green tax of ₹150–300, attraction entry and the Nilgiris e-pass sit outside almost every quoted price.

Per person on twin sharing, land only: room, vehicle, driver, fuel, tolls and sightseeing. Flights and trains to the gateway city are separate.
| Package | Budget | Mid-range (3-star) | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 night / 2 days — Ooty town | ₹3,500 – 5,500 | ₹6,000 – 8,500 | ₹12,000+ |
| 2 nights / 3 days — Ooty + Coonoor | ₹5,500 – 8,000 | ₹9,000 – 14,000 | ₹18,000 – 25,000 |
| 3 nights / 4 days — with Mudumalai | ₹8,500 – 12,000 | ₹13,000 – 19,000 | ₹25,000 – 35,000 |
| 4 nights / 5 days — Ooty + Kodaikanal | ₹11,000 – 15,000 | ₹16,000 – 24,000 | ₹27,200 |
| 6 nights / 7 days — Mysore + Ooty + Coorg | ₹18,000 – 25,000 | ₹26,000 – 35,200 | ₹50,000 – 91,400 |
Search Ooty packages and the first three screens quote you ₹9,284, ₹12,300 and ₹21,600. Those are real published anchors from the big portals, and they are all technically true — for one specific hotel, on a Tuesday in July, on twin sharing, with two people who never leave the hotel. The moment you ask for three nights in April, a room your parents can sleep in and a vehicle that waits while you finish the Botanical Garden, the number moves.
We would rather show you the shape of the spend. Of a ₹12,000-per-head 2N/3D trip, roughly ₹4,500–6,000 is the room, ₹3,500–5,000 is the vehicle and driver across three days, and the rest is entry fees, meals and the margin we run on. When someone advertises the same trip at ₹6,200, one of those three lines has been cut, and it is almost always the hotel or the number of hours the vehicle stays with you.
Each has its own page with a day-by-day plan, a price table by vehicle and the honest notes about what does not work.
Ooty town on day one, Pykara and the high points on day two, Coonoor and the drive out on day three. Nine out of ten first-time Ooty trips should be this one.
Same hills, completely different timing. Gardens before the crowd arrives, Pykara at golden hour, and a hotel chosen for its evenings rather than its buffet.
Built around what children actually tolerate: shorter ghat stretches, a toy train leg, boating, and rest breaks written into the schedule instead of improvised.
Two hill stations, one 250 km transfer that takes seven to eight hours. We publish that drive honestly because it is the part every brochure hides.
Thirty to fifty-five people, coaches that can legally and safely take the Coonoor ghat, and a route plan that assumes boarding takes twenty minutes, not five.
For travellers who want tea country rather than a checklist: Sim's Park, Dolphin's Nose, a working estate and the toy train down the 14 bends.
Lead time is the cheapest lever you have on an Ooty price. The same room and the same Innova cost very different money depending on when you commit.
| Period | Book this far ahead | Price position | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| April to May | 45 – 60 days | Top of every band | Summer Festival and the Flower Show; e-pass caps bite first |
| 20 December – 5 January | 45 – 60 days | Top of every band | Christmas and New Year; 6–8°C nights are the draw |
| March and October | 3 – 4 weeks | Middle | Building demand, weather still workable |
| June, July, August | 10 – 14 days | Lowest | 209mm in June, 180–200mm in July and August |
| February, September, November | 7 – 10 days | 25 – 35% below peak | The value window nobody advertises |
An Ooty package is a road trip with a hotel attached, so the distance from your front door to the bottom of the ghat decides how much of your holiday is scenery and how much is seat time. From Coimbatore it is 88 km and two and a half hours, which means a car that leaves at 7 am has you at the Botanical Garden before it fills. From Bangalore it is 265–275 km and five to six hours, and the Bandipur forest gate shuts from 9 pm to 6 am, which quietly removes the evening departure most people plan. From Chennai it is roughly 535 km, nine to ten hours of driving, which is why we tell Chennai guests to put themselves on the overnight train to Coimbatore and let us take over at the station.
Read the origin page before the package page. It usually changes which duration you should buy: a two-night trip from Coimbatore gives you two full sightseeing days, while the same two nights from Bangalore gives you one, because the road ate the others.
On twin sharing in a mid-range 3-star, ₹9,000 to ₹14,000 per person including room, vehicle, driver and sightseeing. Budget properties bring it to ₹5,500–8,000 and premium stays take it to ₹18,000–25,000. A family of four in one Innova sits near the lower half of the mid band because the vehicle cost splits four ways.
Usually by 8–15% on the same hotel, because there is no marketplace commission in the middle. The larger saving is in accuracy: a portal's ₹9,284 anchor rarely survives your actual dates, while a direct quote is written against the room and vehicle you will really get.
The e-pass itself costs ₹0, so there is nothing to include. We file it against your vehicle before travel using your dates, passenger count and hotel address. The green tax is different — ₹150 to ₹300 for a car or SUV, collected in cash at the check-post, and it is never inside a package price.
Two nights is the honest minimum for Ooty plus Coonoor and three nights if you want Pykara and Avalanche without rushing. One night only works from Coimbatore, and only for Ooty town. We set out all five options, with drive hours counted, on the how many days page.
July and August, when rainfall runs 180–200mm and demand collapses, but the trade-off is real: Coonoor ghat landslide closures and washed-out viewpoints. February is the better value month — 10mm of rain, the driest of the year, and prices 25–35% below April.
Yes, and about a third of our 2026 bookings are exactly that. We price the vehicle, driver, e-pass filing and the day plans separately, which usually lands between ₹2,000 and ₹6,500 per day depending on the vehicle class.
Children under five travelling without an extra bed are free in the room and count as a seat in the vehicle. Ages five to eleven with an extra mattress typically cost 50–70% of the adult rate. Attraction tickets like Doddabetta at ₹10 are charged at actuals for everyone.
We re-plan on the day rather than drive you to a viewpoint that is inside a cloud. Dolphin's Nose and Doddabetta are the first two stops we swap out in heavy rain; the tea factory, the museum and Coonoor's estates still work. The vehicle hours you paid for do not shrink.
Itinerary, hotel options and an all-in price, on WhatsApp. A real person in Coimbatore replies, 6 am to 11 pm.
